So busy enjoying Edinburgh - forgot to take any pics

Wednesday 19 August 2009

15 August - Findochty

Another superb beachside site.

Findochty Harbour, Allan goes aground and Rosie & Jim consider making an offer for what must be the smallest caravan in the world.

Jane continues to swim her way around the country

12th August - John O'Groats 2

Freswick Bay, Jane's most northerly swim.

Sadly, there are hundreds of ruined crofts in this part of Scotland.
This lady has just completed the trip from Lands End in her wheelchair in just 4 weeks.

A bunch of idiots doing the tourist photo.....

11th August - The Orkney Islands

Off to the Orkney Isles rich in prehistoric sites [no, not Jane!] and strangely named lanes.

9th August - John O'Groats 1

Dunnet Bay - another crowded beach

6 August - Dornoch - east coast of Scotland

Saturday night street entertainment in Dornoch and a beach day at last!

5 August - "Local Hero" and Skye Highland Games

The beach that a scene from "Local Hero" was filmed. The Scottish way of life is starting to agree with Allan.

Skye Highland Games. What a shame only one man managed to toss his caber.!! The myth is shattered - they wear lycra shorts under their kilts!!

3 August - The White Sands of Morar

Jane preparing to dive in and Allan on his own private beach.

More crowded beaches!!!!!!!!

1 August - Over the sea to Skye

On the way to Skye and our campsite at the foot of the Cuillins.

Portree Harbour, Skye.
We managed to rescue Gnome from a Scottish pagan cult before they sacrificed him.

30 and 31 July - Invergarry, Loch Ness and surrounding area

Loch Ness too cold, blustery and deeply shelving to tempt me in for a swim, even with a wetsuit.. As for The Falls of Foyes, the descent to the viewing platform was so arduous that it could only be attempted after we had both consumed two Tunnocks Caramel Wafer bars each.... As you can see, the caravan site was idyllic.
